Members of the World Boxing Hall of Fame

Find information on members of the World Boxing Hall of Fame. Founded by Everett L. Saunders in 1980, the World Boxing Hall of Fame abides in Riverside, California. Without a permanent location or museum, the World Boxing Hall of Fame has not received quite as much recognition as the International Boxing Hall of Fame. In 2005, the World Boxing Hall of Fame entered a partnership with the Los Angeles Athletic Club, and where the Hall of Fame may move. A Walk of Fame museum opened in 2006.
Induction ceremony
The World Boxing Hall of Fame ceremony for inductees takes place annually, in October of each year. Inductees receive plaques, medallions and other mementos. Beginning in 2004, new members of the Hall of Fame receive a 12" tall bronze statue called "The Prizefighter." Boxers must have retired for a minimum of five years before they become eligible for induction to the World Boxing Hall of Fame.

Since 1980, the list of inductees to the World Boxing Hall of Fame has grown quite lengthy, and includes such notable names as Muhammad Ali, Jack Dempsey and Sugar Ray Leonard. In 2009, undefeated boxer Lucia Rijker became the first female boxer inducted to the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
The World Boxing Hall of Fame, while smaller than the International Hall of Fame, has grown in renown and has a long list of inductees. It houses an important part of the history of boxing.
